Investment

Memoirs and biographies are bespoke projects—crafted through in-depth interviews, meticulous research, and master-level storytelling. Each one is as unique as the life it captures.

Projects begin at $10,000—less than what many families spend on a single vacation.

You can even begin with a risk-free trial. If you don’t love Chapter One, I’ll return your deposit. No hassles. No hard feelings.

Together, we focus on the moments, values, and experiences that matter most—shaping a story that reflects not just what happened, but what it meant.

For many, the alternative isn’t hiring a writer—it’s watching those stories disappear over time.

Fly Me Out: Imagine sitting in your favorite chair, or walking through the places that shaped your story—with a professional biographer beside you. Real conversation. Laughter. Reflection. For some, the experience is just as meaningful as the final book. I’ll travel to meet you—wherever you feel most at home—so your story can be captured in the environments where it truly comes alive. This is a more immersive, in-person experience and is quoted separately based on time, travel, and scope.

What Shapes the Investment

Every project is different. The investment reflects the depth and care required to capture a life story fully and meaningfully.

Depth of Interviews

Memoirs and biographies require research into the subject's life, which involves conducting interviews with the subject and sometimes with family, friends, and colleagues, and accessing various resources. Interviews are necessary to gather accurate and comprehensive information.

I don't just record events—I uncover the meaning and vivid color behind them. That means exploring memories, clarifying timelines, verifying key details, and understanding the emotional thread that ties a life together. This careful, collaborative approach ensures the work is not only factually sound but emotionally resonant—a true reflection of the person’s journey, character, and legacy.

Level of Craftsmanship

A skilled writer brings far more than writing ability—they bring the trained eye of a storyteller and the sensitivity to capture a person’s essence with care and accuracy.

Transforming hours of conversation, decades of memories, and stacks of notes into a compelling, cohesive narrative is no small feat. It requires discernment: knowing what to include, what to leave out, and how to weave together facts, emotions, and milestones in a way that feels both truthful and engaging.

My ability to synthesize complex, deeply personal material into a story that feels alive on the page is what separates a professionally written narrative from a simple memoir or transcript. This level of craft, experience, and time-intensive care adds tremendous value but also comes at a cost. It’s an investment in getting the story told right—beautifully, thoughtfully, and for future generations.

Time

Writing is a deeply time-intensive endeavor. It’s not simply about putting words on a page—it’s about immersing oneself in another person’s world. A professional writer must take the time to listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and absorb the nuances of the subject’s life. This means hours of recorded interviews, follow-up conversations (sometimes), note-taking, research, and reflection.

But gathering the material is only the beginning. The next phase—shaping that raw material into a compelling, coherent, and emotionally resonant narrative—requires just as much time and even more skill. Every word must serve the larger story. Every chapter must feel both complete and connected. The writer must balance factual accuracy with narrative flow, all while honoring the subject’s voice and values.

This thoughtful, personalized storytelling takes time and cannot be rushed. It’s a process of care, revision, and refinement. The time I spend behind the scenes is significant, ensuring that the finished work is accurate and feels alive. This commitment is reflected in the overall cost, making the final result so enduring.

Editing

Every commissioned work undergoes a meticulous editing process to ensure the final book is accurate, beautifully written, and emotionally resonant. After completing the interviews and drafting the initial manuscript, I begin the editing phase—shaping the raw material into a polished, compelling narrative.

This includes careful fact-checking, refining the language for tone and clarity, and restructuring where needed to ensure the story flows naturally and holds the reader’s attention. It's a thoughtful process that requires sensitivity to the subject’s voice and life experience and a keen editorial eye for detail, rhythm, and pacing.

Professional editing elevates a memoir or biography from a collection of memories into a work of lasting significance. It ensures the story reads smoothly—and that every page reflects the care, craft, and dignity the subject deserves. This level of editorial precision is an essential part of the overall investment.

Production & Presentation

Once I’m done writing, the process doesn’t stop there—it moves into production and printing, which are crucial for turning the manuscript into a physical, finished book. This stage involves several essential steps, each contributing to the final presentation of the memoir or biography.

First, the cover design is crafted, an essential element that visually captures the essence of the subject’s life and legacy. A professionally designed cover makes the book visually appealing and serves as the first introduction to the reader. It’s a key part of making the memoir or biography feel polished and complete.

Next, the manuscript undergoes typesetting, which is arranging the text in a visually pleasing, readable format. This includes selecting the appropriate fonts, margins, and spacing, and ensuring the flow of text is aesthetically balanced. Proper typesetting enhances the overall reading experience and ensures the book feels as professional as it is meaningful.

Once I finalize the manuscript, the next step is printing the book. This process involves me selecting high-quality materials, including premium paper and durable binding, to ensure the work stands the test of time.

These production expenses are an essential part of the investment in creating a lasting legacy that can be treasured for generations to come.

My work isn't finished until you're thrilled with how your story is told.

A well-lived life deserves to be captured with care. I use a trusted process, refined over the years, and never cut corners. I believe in price integrity—no surprise fees, no hidden costs, just straightforward pricing.

Partnering with me isn’t just about creating a book. It’s about preserving a legacy, celebrating a life, and giving something truly lasting to the people who matter most.
