You know better than anyone how challenging it is to lead a health system.
Between staffing shortages, burnout and disengagement, lagging patient satisfaction scores, and financial pressures, every decision spans multiple fronts. One theme I consistently hear from executives is that clinicians are at the heart of everything, yet providers contribute meaningfully with little acknowledgement, while many retire or move on without their stories and impact being recognized or preserved. Over time, this erodes morale and culture. I help solve that problem. Through a simple interview-and-writing process, I craft spotlight/profile articles featuring your clinicians—new, high-performing, long-tenured, and those nearing retirement. These profiles make providers feel appreciated and valued. You can use them to:
The process is efficient and requires minimal time from your clinicians and no added lift from Marketing or Communications. If recognizing your providers—and gifting retirees something worthy of their service—resonates with you, I’d welcome a brief conversation. Book a 15-minute Discovery Call and let's see if we are a good fit. I deliver best-in-class recognition that makes your providers feel appreciated and valued.
“Jeremiah went above and beyond to produce my career history book. He surprised me by contacting my medical school and collecting old photos from their archives. The end product is impressive. I'd recommend him to anyone considering a career history or biography.” Jeff Zollinger, M.D. |
Meet Jeremiah Kalb
Freelance Writer At some point, every hospital CEO or practice manager faces a moment when a valued clinician retires or relocates—and it becomes painfully clear that their story and their impact could disappear into hallway anecdotes. These are not just careers. They are decades of patient relationships, community trust, and culture-building. And yet, when all is said and done, most of that lives only in the memories of colleagues and staff who eventually move on as well. I understand the cost of an undocumented legacy. My own grandfather—my hero—died without his story being recorded. I was the writer in the family, and I let that opportunity slip away. There will never be a book to hand my kids that tells them who he really was. That regret stays with me, and it taught me something: when stories aren’t captured, wisdom disappears and history is lost. I’ve also seen the opposite. I still remember when a hospital CEO asked me to write the career history of an OB-GYN who had just received a terminal diagnosis. We sat together for ninety minutes. I took notes and turned them into a 3,000-word narrative that was presented to the doctor that very evening at a medical staff gathering. His story was captured, honored, and shared. He passed away six months later. He was 54. These two experiences helped shape my mission. For the past 16 years, some of my subjects have included doctors, business leaders, an environmental epidemiologist, a crop duster, a tombstone designer, a 103-year-old great-great-grandma, a sushi roller, a Romanian immigrant, homemakers, and many more—including a memorable story featuring legendary actor Gene Hackman. I care about this work because untold stories don’t just disappear; they take culture and identity with them. Blank pages don’t scare me—losing stories does. As a Director of HIM for 23 years in acute-care settings, I offer a unique position of understanding physicians and healthcare. I bring to writing my sector experience and insider knowledge. |
